My background is in the printing/graphic design industry, having begun working for one of Glasgow’s largest printing companies and then Strathclyde Regional Council, before leaving to join the graphic design industry. I then went on to form the first of my graphic design companies in the mid ’90s. In the mid-2000s I was diagnosed with epilepsy, which is when many aspects of my life changed and when I became involved with Epilepsy Connections and during the last decade I have fulfilled various role within that organisation and at present am a Director. Since my diagnosis, I have qualified as a Life Coach and Neuro Linguistic Programming Practitioner, which allows me to explore my interest in alternative therapies. I was a member of “Neurological Voices”, a group set up in the Southern General hospital, supported by senior medical and admin staff, as a voice for people with various neurological conditions to help improve their medical experience from diagnosis onwards. In 2017 I joined Epilepsy Consortium Scotland and enjoy my role as an active participant within this umbrella organisation.
